NAZK Completes 653 Declaration Audits in First Nine Months of 2026, Launches 149 Criminal Investigations
Declaration Audits Conducted Throughout 2026
According to НАЗК: During the first nine months of 2026, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NAZK) finalized 653 thorough audits of asset declarations. These reviews uncovered numerous violations, resulting in hundreds of substantiated reports sent to relevant authorities and triggering criminal investigations. Out of these, 649 declarations contained infringements, with 368 showing signs of false information amounting to over 2.618 billion hryvnias.
Additionally, 7 declarations revealed indications of unjustified assets totaling more than 31 million hryvnias, while 9 declarations indicated illegal enrichment exceeding 146 million hryvnias. In September alone, NAZK forwarded 47 substantiated reports to competent bodies. Since the start of the year, NAZK has submitted a total of 340 such reports, categorized as follows:
- 209 related to false declaration indicators,
- 8 linked to illegal enrichment,
- 123 concerning administrative offenses.
Impact and Outcomes of NAZK's Efforts
Following these submissions, investigative agencies initiated 149 criminal cases, with evidence from 51 other audits added to ongoing investigations. These figures highlight NAZK's active role in identifying and combating corruption offenses across Ukraine.
The detected breaches in declarations underscore significant challenges in adhering to anti-corruption laws nationwide. NAZK's proactive auditing and referral of cases to law enforcement reflect ongoing governmental efforts to tackle corruption, which remains a critical priority for enhancing transparency and public trust in state institutions. The agency’s work not only influences Ukraine's broader anti-corruption landscape but also lays groundwork for future reforms in this domain.
As NAZK continues its critical fight against corruption through rigorous audits and investigations, it's important to recognize the broader context of Ukraine's anti-corruption strategies. Recently, the country showcased its wartime approaches to minimizing corruption risks at the EPAC/EACN Conference in Montenegro, highlighting the ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability during challenging times.
