The most unusual lost items on trains in Ukraine

In trains in Ukraine, more than 20 thousand requests for lost items were recorded in 2025. Passengers left not only phones or keys but also extremely unusual items – from sabres to avalanche signals. The number of such requests increased by 21.6% compared to the previous year. This is reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

Most often lost items on trains in Ukraine in 2025

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the vast majority of requests relate to everyday personal items. The list of what passengers forgot most often includes:

• wireless headphones, mostly one;

• mobile phones and chargers;

• keys;

• glasses and jewelry;

• clothing items.

Sometimes curious situations occurred when passengers accidentally took someone else's shoes or left their own. In such cases, the contact center helped find the owners, and items were returned.

The most unusual findings on trains and at railway stations in Ukraine

The railway workers also noted items that surprised even experienced employees. Among the most unusual finds in 2025:

• sabre;

• flower in a pot;

• portable refrigerator;

• hair dryer;

• avalanche signal.

Also, throughout the year, 522 times children had their lost toys returned. After trips, plush animals and fictional characters often became even more valuable to the little ones. In addition, passengers lost items for pets – bowls, overalls, and illuminated collars.

In Ukrzaliznytsia, it is advised to carefully check your belongings before leaving the carriage, and in case of loss, to contact the railway station staff or leave a message via the application.

It should be noted that Ukrzaliznytsia is expanding internet access in trains, particularly on train Hutsulshchyna No. 95/96, which operates on the route Kyiv - Rakhiv. As part of this pilot project, passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy 10 minutes of free internet access.
