The Most Popular Universities in Ukraine in 2025

According to the analysis by the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine, in 2025, the National University 'Lviv Polytechnic' and Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko are the most popular among universities.

The third place in terms of the number of enrolled first-year students is occupied by Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics, followed by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Candidates from Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi equally participated in the admission campaign.

Analysts note: 'This year, 174 thousand first-year students were admitted to 351 higher educational institutions in Ukraine. Most of the new students (64%) are paying for their education out of their own pocket.'

Among the list of the most popular universities are also Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, the University of Life and Natural Resources, and Lutsk National Technical University.

Reduction in the Flow of Students

Compared to previous years, in 2025 there is a noticeable decrease in the number of first-year students and master's degree students. For example, compared to 2015, the number of applicants for master’s programs has dropped by 14 times.

According to statistics, universities have experienced the largest decrease in the enrollment of first-year students in recent years. Additionally, in 2015, the number of entrants was 20% higher.

It is worth noting that earlier data was published on the most popular professions among Ukrainians.

In 2025, Ukrainian universities noted a decrease in the number of first-year students and master's degree students compared to previous years, which may indicate a shift in trends in the country's education system.
