According to НБУ: Starting July 9, Taras Tokarchuk has been named the Director of the Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department at the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). This department operates under the Monetary Stability vertical, which is overseen by NBU Deputy Governor Volodymyr Lepushynskyi. The appointment comes at a time when Ukraine faces significant economic pressures due to the ongoing war.

Developing monetary policy decisions, macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, and research are the foundation for fulfilling the National Bank's core mandate of ensuring price stability. I expect that Taras Tokarchuk, with his many years of experience at the NBU-including the period of introducing inflation targeting in Ukraine and maintaining stability during the full-scale war-along with his strong analytical and managerial skills and deep understanding of monetary processes, will ensure the department's effective work and continued development.

This leadership change is a strategic move for the National Bank of Ukraine, particularly given the current economic climate. Tokarchuk's expertise and track record are expected to bolster the stability of the country's monetary policy, a critical factor amid wartime challenges and economic uncertainty.

The department's role in shaping effective policy and supporting Ukraine's economic stability has never been more vital than it is today.
