NBU refutes the fake about the new 5000 hryvnia banknote: what it really was

Video about a new 5000 hryvnia banknote is circulating on the internet and in some media, but the National Bank of Ukraine refutes this information. The video shows a presentation product "Panteleymon Kulish" created in 2008 to demonstrate the technological capabilities of the NBU's Banknote and Coin Production Facility.

This product is not a banknote as it does not have a denomination and the name of the monetary unit of Ukraine "hryvnia". It is merely printed material intended for souvenir purposes. It is stated that it cannot be used as a means of payment.

The NBU states that at the moment it does not plan to issue a new banknote with a denomination of 5000 hryvnias. If there is a change in decision regarding the update of the banknote denomination series, this information will be published. Do not spread unreliable information!
