Pensioners do not use thousands of hryvnias in benefits: what social guarantees Ukrainians miss
A significant portion of pensioners in Ukraine do not receive social guarantees that could improve their quality of life. Many elderly people are unaware of the benefits provided by law or have difficulties in obtaining them.
One of the key social guarantees for pensioners is the right to free public transport. Individuals with additional social statuses are entitled to extended transport benefits, including free long-distance travel.
“The state also exempts pensioners from paying land tax. This applies to land plots used for personal farming, individual housing construction, or gardening,”
Pensioners can benefit from discounts on utilities and receive additional medical services based on certain statuses. The state program 'Affordable Medicines' allows pensioners to receive necessary medications for free or for a nominal fee.
Legal Protection of Pensioners
Pensioners can access free legal assistance, including consultations and support in courts. Additional services, such as legal advice and hotline support, are provided to pensioners based on their income.
Information has been provided about social guarantees and legal protections available to Ukrainian pensioners. In particular, benefits for public transport, exemption from land tax, the possibility of receiving free or favorable medical services, and legal assistance have been specified. These measures are aimed at improving the quality of life for pensioners and their social protection.
