Внаслідок сильних погодних умов та атак дронів, понад 700 населених пунктів залишилися без електрики: найбільш постраждалі регіони.

Ukraine's Power Supply Situation

According to Главком: As of 9:30 AM on April 27, electricity consumption had dropped by 4.2% compared to the previous working day, following widespread blackouts caused by a combination of harsh weather and Russian drone attacks. The Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions have suffered the most damage.

The outages have affected consumers across several regions, including:

  • Donetsk
  • Dnipropetrovsk
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Kharkiv
  • Sumy
  • Chernihiv
  • Kherson

These disruptions stem from adverse weather conditions-particularly strong wind gusts and thunderstorms-as well as drone attacks launched by Russia.

The decline in power usage is not only a result of the blackouts but also reflects the effective operation of residential solar power systems. According to officials from Ukrenergo,

“This ensures the efficient functioning of household solar installations and a corresponding reduction in electricity drawn from the main grid. Additionally, the significant number of settlements left without power due to the weather has also contributed to the drop in consumption.”

Power Restoration Efforts

In response, police have stepped up patrols in areas where the weather has caused major power interruptions. Emergency repair work has already begun in all locations where security conditions permit. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore equipment damaged by the enemy as quickly as possible.

Both the severe weather and ongoing drone attacks continue to take a toll on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, creating additional hurdles for restoring electricity. With consumption lowered by both the weather and the contribution of solar panels, maintaining grid stability remains a critical challenge. Restoration efforts are a top priority, but their progress depends on the security situation in the affected regions. Moving forward, an effective response to such challenges will be essential for ensuring a reliable power supply across Ukraine.

The ongoing challenges to Ukraine's energy infrastructure are compounded by recent attacks. As the situation evolves, it is crucial to understand how the latest Russian strikes have specifically targeted the power grid in southern Ukraine, leading to both casualties and widespread outages.
