Drones over Volkel Airbase

Earlier, it was reported that on November 21, Dutch military opened fire on drones spotted over Volkel Airbase about 40 km from Eindhoven. According to the department, after the shots, the drones quickly left the area of the airbase, and it was not possible to determine their origin or flight path. The reasons for the appearance of drones in the zone of the strategic military facility are currently unknown.

For security reasons, the Ministry of Defense does not disclose technical details of the incident, including what specific means were used to detect the drones and what additional response measures were applied. The investigation is being conducted by the gendarmerie and the national police.

The suspension of air traffic at Eindhoven Airport and the appearance of drones over Volkel Airbase raise questions about flight safety and potential threats that may arise from such incidents. Authorities are actively conducting an investigation to establish the circumstances and further security measures.
