Drone Attack on Chernihiv

According to Главком: In the early hours of May 27, Russian drones struck the city of Chernihiv, according to Dmytro Bryzhynsky, head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration. A total of 15 explosions were heard throughout the night, resulting in damage to a local industrial facility. No casualties have been reported so far.

This incident follows a previous large-scale drone assault on Chernihiv that occurred on April 19, which tragically claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy whose body was recovered by rescue workers during debris clearance. Earlier, on April 17, Russian forces had also targeted the city with drones aimed at critical infrastructure. That attack triggered fires and left approximately 6,000 households without electricity, while the Chernihiv Thermal Power Plant was forced to temporarily halt operations.

Widespread Russian Drone Offensives

It is worth noting that on the night of April 17, Russia launched a massive assault involving 172 attack drones. By 8:00 AM, Ukrainian forces had destroyed or suppressed 147 of these enemy UAVs. The downed drones included models such as Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and others. Interceptions and electronic warfare measures were carried out across the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the country.

The repeated strikes on Chernihiv underscore the ongoing hostilities and the persistent threat to civilians. As a city that has already endured similar attacks, Chernihiv remains at significant risk, demanding heightened vigilance from local authorities and military units. The situation in the region stays tense, highlighting the urgent need for robust security measures and preparedness for potential future assaults.
