Tragedy in Dnipro

According to Главком: During a massive Russian bombardment on the night of June 1–2, 45-year-old Nataliia Kotenkova, a customer service specialist at the municipal utility company Teploenergo, was killed. This attack brought the total number of civilian fatalities to 11, among them two children. In addition to Nataliia, Major Anton Yarmolenko of the State Emergency Service also lost his life. Thirty-seven residents of the city sustained injuries.

Remembering Nataliia Kotenkova

Nataliia Kotenkova was a graduate of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine. She is survived by her mother. The Teploenergo team expressed deep condolences to her family and loved ones, stating:

'No words can ease the pain of this loss. War takes the most precious thing-human lives. It takes kind, sincere, and hardworking people who deserved to live, love, dream, and enjoy every new day.'

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov confirmed that cluster munitions were used in the attack, raising additional alarm among residents. The situation in the city remains tense, and local authorities are urging citizens to stay vigilant.

This tragic event underscores the scale of the humanitarian crisis caused by the war and the urgent need for international support to protect civilians. The use of cluster munitions, which are banned under international agreements, poses serious risks to public safety and demands a stronger response from both national authorities and the global community. As tensions escalate, it is vital to ensure adequate support and protection for all those affected by the conflict.

The recent attack in Dnipro is part of a troubling pattern, as just hours before, another strike resulted in numerous injuries, including three children. This escalation in violence highlights the urgent need for comprehensive coverage of the ongoing conflict and its devastating impact on civilians.
