According to Главком: On the night of June 1, Russian forces launched a large-scale assault on Ukraine, deploying 265 strike and decoy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the Ukrainian Air Force, defense units successfully intercepted 228 of these drones, but 27 impacts were recorded across 18 locations. Debris from destroyed UAVs fell in 12 separate areas. The attack targeted multiple regions, including the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the country.

Types of UAVs and Defensive Forces

The primary UAV models used in the assault included:

  • Shahed
  • Gerbera
  • Italmas
  • Parody-type decoy drones and others

Ukrainian defensive units involved in repelling the attack consisted of:

  • Aviation
  • Surface-to-air missile troops
  • Electronic warfare units
  • Unmanned systems units
  • Mobile fire groups

Specifically, the cities of Kharkiv and Odesa were affected. In Odesa, five people were injured, two of whom required hospitalization. As of 08:00, the Ukrainian Air Force urged the public to follow safety protocols, warning:

“The attack is ongoing; hostile UAVs remain in the airspace.”
