June 7 Attack on Zaporizhzhia

According to Главком: In the early hours of June 7, the Russian military launched an attack on Zaporizhzhia, leaving part of the city without electricity. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the assault sparked a fire. A strike hit the roof of a supermarket, causing a blaze in a nearby apartment building. A 10-year-old boy and his father were injured. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene and worked to contain the flames.

Throughout the night, air raid sirens sounded across Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, with residents receiving warnings of potential ballistic missiles, guided aerial bombs, and drones. Power workers are now focused on restoring electricity to the affected area.

Previous Attacks and Evolving Tactics

This was not an isolated incident: on June 5, Russian forces also struck Zaporizhzhia. That attack targeted a private residence, engulfing a house in flames and setting a car on fire. Ivan Fedorov reported:

'The enemy struck a private home in Zaporizhzhia. The house went up in flames. A car is also burning.' - Ivan Fedorov

Fedorov also highlighted a shift in attack methods, noting that 'the enemy has upgraded certain types of munitions. Yesterday, they used a Shahed drone to carry FPV drones into the city center and then scattered them randomly over civilian targets.' This points to an escalating threat to civilian infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia and its outskirts.

The repeated strikes on Zaporizhzhia underscore the growing tension in the region and the danger to non-combatants. The refinement of Russian weaponry, such as FPV drones, shows the adversary is adapting its tactics, which could lead to further civilian casualties. Emergency services and power crews continue their critical work to restore normalcy in the impacted areas.

In light of the recent attack on Zaporizhzhia, it is crucial to understand the broader context of escalating violence in the region. On the same day, nearly 740 strikes targeted various locations, highlighting the intensifying conflict and its devastating impact on civilians.
