The military of the Netherlands opened fire on unidentified drones that circled over the Volkel military facility for two hours. The drones quickly fled after the shots, and it has not yet been established where they came from. The gendarmerie and national police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
The Ministry of Defense decided not to disclose technical details of the conflict with the drones for security reasons. Europe is discussing the possibility of using strike drones as part of defense against potential threats, particularly from Russia, which is using UAVs for reconnaissance and possible attacks in the region.
