Extradition Process for Portnov Murder Suspect Underway
According to Главком: German authorities are now considering the extradition of a man suspected of involvement in the murder of Andriy Portnov. Portnov was shot dead on May 21, 2025, in the Madrid suburb of Pozuelo. The Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that an extradition procedure involving international partners is ongoing in this case. The suspect was detained in the city of Heinsberg.
Arrest Details and Circumstances of the Killing
The operation to detain the suspect was carried out by Spanish police in cooperation with German law enforcement. Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) clarified that its officers did not directly conduct the arrest. It is known that Andriy Portnov was shot near the gates of a school in Pozuelo, and authorities confirmed his death from injuries incompatible with life, sustained from multiple gunshot wounds. According to the investigation, Portnov was shot four times in the chest area and once in the head.
Shortly before his death, Andriy Portnov was moving his assets, and journalists managed to discover that he had conducted a series of financial and property transactions. Oleg Tsaryov noted that
"fees for resolving issues reached up to $10 million"
