The NOC of Ukraine demands that the IOC prohibit Russian athletes under the flag
The NOC of Ukraine has sent a letter to the International Olympic Committee regarding the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions under national symbols. The IJF's decision to allow Russians to participate in the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for November 28-30 this year, prompted the NOC of Ukraine to send such a letter.
The document states that this step contradicts IOC recommendations prohibiting the use of national symbols of aggressive states, such as Russia. The NOC of Ukraine believes that such actions create a precedent that may negatively impact international sports, while the Russian Federation continues to wage war against Ukraine, harming the civilian population and the country's sports infrastructure.
The NOC of Ukraine calls on the International Olympic Committee to intervene and prevent participants from the IJF's controversial decision, hoping for IOC's support and guidance on this issue.
