According to hvylya.net: Starting from January 2025, a new automated system for providing the status of combatant (UBD) has been launched in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense, over 71 thousand military personnel have already taken advantage of this opportunity.

The main improvement is that the status of combatant can now be obtained through the Unified State Register of War Veterans. The system automatically verifies and approves documents for obtaining the status in real time, avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.

Authorized personnel of military units must enter the necessary information into the register within 5 days from the beginning of the combat task performed by the serviceman.

The new system has complemented but not replaced the existing procedure for obtaining UBD status through the commission for reviewing materials on participation in combat operations. Documents for review by the commission can be submitted by the military unit's leadership or the serviceman themselves.

  • A statement in the prescribed form
  • Two 3x4 photographs on matte paper
  • Documents confirming participation in combat operations
'The statement must be sent by mail to the commission of the military management body to which the military unit is subordinate, where the serviceman served or is serving during participation in combat operations,' explained the Ministry of Defense.

The introduction of the automated system has significantly simplified the procedure for obtaining UBD status and reduced the waiting time for military personnel.

The new automated system for providing the status of combatant in Ukraine began operations at the beginning of 2025. The system allows for obtaining status quickly and without excessive time costs, streamlining the process for military personnel and easing their obligations.
