New Government Support for Families with Children

According to ХВИЛЯ: Starting January 1, 2026, Ukraine will introduce new forms of state assistance for families raising children. These reforms are part of a broader effort to strengthen the social safety net and include a childcare benefit for infants under one year old and a program called 'єЯсла' (eYasla) designed to aid parents during their child's early years.

The infant care benefit will be paid monthly until the child's first birthday. To receive these funds, parents must apply no later than the month following the child's date of birth. This streamlined process aims to provide timely financial relief to new families.

The 'єЯсла' Program

The 'єЯсла' program is targeted at parents employed full-time. Support under this initiative will be provided until the month the child turns three years old. For instance, parents whose children turn three in January 2026 must submit their application by the end of that same month to qualify. These measures are expected to significantly improve conditions for Ukrainian families.

The launch of these new support schemes demonstrates the Ukrainian government's commitment to enhancing social protection for young families. Both the infant benefit and the 'єЯсла' program have the potential to substantially ease the financial pressures on parents, a critical concern in the current economic climate.

Analysts anticipate these changes will not only raise living standards for families but may also contribute to an increase in the national birth rate.
