New Water Supply for Mykolaiv: When the City Will Receive Stable Water
The Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Ku leba announced that the construction of a new water supply for Mykolaiv is almost complete. This project is considered one of the largest infrastructure projects being implemented during the war. According to the minister, city residents will receive stable centralized water supply by the end of August this year. Currently, 70 km of pipelines and 86% of pumping stations have been installed.
“For Mykolaiv residents, this means that by the end of August the city will receive stable centralized water supply. More than half a million people have been waiting for this since April 2022 when the Russians blew up the main water supply”
- emphasized Kuleba.
The workers have already completed the installation of all substations and water supply cables, as well as installed backup generators and modern frequency converters. In addition, the construction process also includes irrigation systems which will provide farmers with an additional 50 thousand cubic meters of water daily.
In September 2024, the construction of a water intake from the Southern Bug and a water supply from Nova Odesa to Mykolaiv began, which will solve the problem of centralized drinking water supply for over 400 thousand residents of the city. It is planned that the new water supply will be completed by the end of August 2025, which will effectively address the water supply issue that has been facing the city for several years.
