New Year Tree Campaign: 16.5 Million Hryvnias in Revenue and 408 Illegal Cuttings
Completion of the New Year Tree Campaign in Ukraine
According to Главком: The New Year tree campaign in Ukraine has been completed, resulting in the sale of 91.4 thousand New Year trees, with total revenue amounting to 16.5 million hryvnias. The state enterprise 'Forests of Ukraine' was the main supplier of trees, particularly with the highest demand observed in the Volyn and Rivne regions, where more than 25 thousand trees were sold. Around 25 thousand trees were also sold in the Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy regions, while over 19 thousand trees were purchased in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
Meanwhile, only 625 trees were sold in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. The average price of one tree was 180 hryvnias including VAT, with the cheapest tree costing 84 hryvnias and the most expensive tree costing 3600 hryvnias. These figures indicate the activity of consumer demand for New Year trees in Ukraine.
Control over the Legal Circulation of Coniferous Trees
Alongside the sale of trees, the campaign conducted 349 mobile raid groups which performed about 1.5 thousand inspections. As a result of these actions, 408 illegally cut trees were identified. 300 administrative protocols were drawn up, and the amount of damage exceeded 416 thousand hryvnias.
On January 2, 72 collection points for coniferous trees began operating in Kyiv, becoming an important step in ensuring environmental safety and controlling the legality of New Year tree sales in Ukraine.
The completion of the New Year tree campaign in Ukraine demonstrated not only high demand for trees but also state activity in controlling the legal circulation of coniferous trees. The detection of illegal cuttings and the conducting of raids testify to efforts in combating ecological offenses. The establishment of collection points for trees after the holidays also highlights the importance of ecological awareness in society and the desire to preserve natural resources.
