Electricity restrictions from November 22: what is happening with the energy system

According to ХВИЛЯ: On November 22, Ukraine is introducing restrictions on electricity consumption due to the consequences of Russian attacks on energy facilities. This decision was announced on November 21 by the company 'Ukrenergo'. Schedules for electricity outages will be in effect from 00:00 to 23:59, with a volume ranging from 1 to 3.5 queues.

As a result of massive Russian missile and drone attacks, all major thermal power plants (TPPs) and hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in Ukraine have been damaged. Electricity exports have been completely halted, which has also affected the energy situation in the country. The head of 'Ukrenergo' Vitaliy Zaychenko warned that outage schedules may persist throughout the winter, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Recommendations for energy saving

The Ministry of Energy explains the unevenness of outages across regions, indicating that some areas have suffered greater destruction from Russian attacks. In this regard, consumers are advised to use six simple ways to save electricity. Among them:

  • installation of LED lamps,
  • use of dual-zone meters,
  • avoidance of powerful appliances during peak load hours.

Thus, Ukrainians should be prepared for challenging electricity consumption conditions during the cold season.

The introduced restrictions on electricity consumption reflect a critical situation in Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has suffered significant damage due to military actions. In the winter period and with increasing heating needs, it is important for the population to be informed about alternative ways to save electricity. This will help reduce the load on the energy system and ensure the stability of energy supply in the country.
