Kyiv Announces Traffic and Transit Changes for March Road and Rail Repairs

Traffic restrictions in Kyiv: new routes
У Києві оголосили про нові правила руху на вулицях та зміни у пасажирських перевезеннях через ремонти доріг та залізниць у березні.

Traffic Restrictions Planned for Kyiv

According to Главком: Kyiv will implement traffic restrictions on Stolychna Shose (Stolychna Highway) and alter public transport routes due to scheduled repair work. In the Holosiivskyi district, traffic will be limited on Stolychna Shose on March 9 and 10. The repairs will focus on a section of the highway leading out of the city, just before the turn onto Akademika Zabolotnoho Street. These infrastructure projects are part of ongoing national efforts to modernize Ukraine's transport networks.

Public Transport Diversions and Infrastructure Upgrades

Separately, tram routes 11, 12, 16, and 19 will be rerouted until March 20 due to track repairs on Kyrylivska Street. Furthermore, since March 4, public electric transport has already been diverted because of repair work on the overpass at the intersection of Ronald Reagan Street and Honoré de Balzac Street. These measures aim to improve infrastructure and road safety. The city has asked Kyiv residents for their understanding regarding the temporary inconveniences caused by the construction.

The planned work is a significant step in enhancing Kyiv's road infrastructure, which is expected to improve safety and travel comfort. Currently, an estimated 52 billion hryvnias are needed for road repairs across Ukraine, highlighting the scale of the national infrastructure challenge. The temporary restrictions affecting both road and tram traffic underscore the necessity of a planned approach to modernizing routes, which could ultimately reduce congestion and improve the overall state of the capital's transport network.
