Head of the Russian Football Union in the 'Peacemaker' database: why Mitrofanov was included

According to glavcom.ua: Maxim Mitrofanov, the head of the Russian Football Union, has found himself in the database of the 'Peacemaker' website. This strange news was reported by 'Glavkom'.

It is noted that Mitrofanov is considered a participant in the crimes of the Russian authorities against Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens and has contributed to the propaganda of war.

Participation in a propaganda event

The head of the football union participated in a propaganda event – the international sports forum 'Russia – a sports state'. The forum took place in Samara and Togliatti from November 5 to 7.

Representatives of Russian occupation organizations in the regions of Ukraine, who were engaged in sports events such as sled hockey, swimming, and fidgetsport, also attended the event.

Propaganda and participation of neutral athletes

Mitrofanov's participation in such an event contradicts the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee regarding neutral athletes. Some athletes, including Russian speed skater Aleksandra Saitina, who attended a reception with Russian President Putin, also participated in this forum and had the opportunity to compete in international skating competitions.

Putin's supporters at the propaganda event

Another Putin supporter, Russian skier Veronika Stepanova, posted photos on Instagram regarding the participation of athletes in the propaganda forum. Along with the neutral athlete Saitina, associates of Putin and military personnel who participated in the war against Ukraine also took part in the event.

The Russian speed skater received visas to visit the USA and Canada to participate in the World Cup. The competitions will take place in several cities, including Salt Lake City, Calgary, Heerenveen, and Hamar. It is worth recalling that the 2026 Olympics will be held in Italy from February 6 to 22.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have included the head of the Russian Football Union, Maxim Mitrofanov, in the database of the 'Peacemaker' website due to his participation in the propaganda forum and support for Russian aggression against Ukraine. Such actions by Mitrofanov violate the principles of the sports community and lead to its confrontation. Such situations raise questions about the adequacy and responsibility of sports figures in the context of international relations and sports events.
