This holiday is traditionally celebrated in Ukraine; however, it is important to note that since September 1, 2023, most Christians in the country have begun to celebrate according to the New Julian calendar. Accordingly, Christmas in Ukraine is now celebrated on December 25 instead of January 7.

The transition to the New Julian calendar was approved by the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on May 24, 2023. In addition to Christmas, other important holidays have also been shifted:
