Zinchenko's Potential Move to Ajax

According to Главком: Oleksandr Zinchenko, the left-back currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Arsenal, is in discussions for a transfer to Dutch giants Ajax. The Ukrainian international is scheduled to travel to Amsterdam on January 19, 2025, to complete his medical examination. Ajax is expected to secure the player on a loan deal that will run until the end of the 2025/26 season. This move would see Zinchenko return to the Eredivisie, where he previously played for PSV.

Career Stats and Previous Loans

This season, Zinchenko has featured in 10 matches for Nottingham Forest but has yet to score. He initially joined Forest on loan from Arsenal during the summer 2025 transfer window. During his time at Arsenal, he made 91 appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists. His contract with the London club is valid until the end of June 2026. Earlier in his career, during the 2016/17 season, he was also on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he played 17 matches and registered 4 assists.

Ajax currently sits third in the Dutch Eredivisie and is ranked 34th out of 36 teams in the Champions League. If the transfer is finalized, Zinchenko could make his debut for Ajax as early as January 24, 2025, in a match against Volendam. This opportunity arises as regular left-back Owen Wijndal is suspended for that fixture. A move to Ajax represents a significant chance for Zinchenko to secure more consistent playing time and regain his form at a club with European pedigree, contrasting with his limited role at Nottingham Forest. This potential deal highlights the fluid nature of the European loan market as clubs seek to bolster their squads mid-season.
