According to glavcom.ua: The analysis by the United Nations confirmed that the tragedy in the Olenivka colony, currently occupied territory, was a planned Russian attack. According to the UN, more than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war died as a result of shelling with thermobaric shells.

The UN report notes that the shells operated at full power due to delayed-action detonators. The shells were fired from an artillery system; the probable launch site is the village of Lyubivka, just 2.3 km from the colony.

The UN report excluded the possibility of using homemade or incendiary devices, confirming that the attack was carried out by the Russian military using standard weaponry. This tragedy had a negative impact on both Ukraine and arms supplies from the West under other flags.

Following this horrific event, the UN Fact-Finding Mission was dissolved due to a lack of security. The Ukrainian side attempted to submit materials for the investigation, but experts refused to review them. “Finally, things are being named for what they are,” noted the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.
