OpenAI Unveils New GPT-Live Voice Models with Real-Time Interaction
Launch of the New GPT-Live Voice Models
According to НВ — Техно: On July 8, 2025, OpenAI introduced its latest GPT-Live voice models, built on a duplex architecture that allows simultaneous data processing and response generation. Designed to enhance user interaction, these models enable more natural conversations and real-time translation. Users can now interrupt the model at any point or ask it to slow down its speech.
GPT-Live also supports visual cards that display information on:
- weather
- sports
- stocks
Additionally, users can upload images and files, and perform web searches directly during a conversation. The new model taps into other OpenAI systems, including GPT-5.5. For paid subscribers on Go, Plus, and Pro plans, GPT-Live 1 becomes the default model, while free accounts receive the Live-1 mini version.
Safeguards and Security
OpenAI has also introduced new parental control safeguards. Parents and guardians can disable the voice mode for teenagers. The system will notify parents if a conversation veers toward self-harm topics. As the company states,
“when the system detects a potentially harmful response, it can redirect the model to a safer option, show additional safety warnings, or end the voice conversation in high-risk cases.”
The new GPT-Live model features are rolling out for ChatGPT on Android, iOS, and the web version. This technology rollout opens up fresh opportunities to improve communication and user safety in the digital environment. According to OpenAI,
“this allows the model to engage in more natural dialogue, better sense timing, and even perform real-time translation.”
The launch of OpenAI's GPT-Live voice models marks ongoing progress in artificial intelligence development and its integration into everyday life. With convenient features like visual card support and file upload capabilities, these models are poised to become valuable tools for learning, work, and entertainment. Moreover, the implemented parental control mechanisms underscore the company's commitment to the safety of younger users in the digital space.
