May 2026 Gas Prices for Households Announced: What Consumers Will Pay
Updated Household Gas Tariffs for May 2026
According to ХВИЛЯ: Residential gas suppliers have released their pricing for May 2026. While most companies have kept their annual rates unchanged, two providers are offering monthly plans exceeding 28 hryvnias per cubic meter. Currently, eight companies serve the household gas market, with four offering only annual contracts that have been extended through April 30, 2027. This pricing update comes as households continue to seek stable energy costs amid broader economic shifts.
Annual and Monthly Rate Breakdown
Annual prices range from 7.96 to 9.99 hryvnias per cubic meter. The cheapest gas is offered by Naftogaz of Ukraine and Ternopiloblhaz Zbut at 7.96 hryvnias per cubic meter. Following close behind are:
- Prykarpat Enerho Treid (7.98 hryvnias)
- Halnaftohaz under the OKKO Kontrakt brand (7.99 hryvnias)
- YASNO in Kyiv and Dnipro (8.46 hryvnias each)
The highest annual rate comes from SvitloHaz, operated by Retail Service LLC, at 9.99 hryvnias per cubic meter.
Four suppliers also provide monthly pricing options, which in May range from 8.46 to 29.20 hryvnias per cubic meter. Lvivenerhozbut charges 29.20 hryvnias per cubic meter for its monthly plan, while SvitloHaz sets its rate at 28.99 hryvnias. Lvivenerhozbut's base annual tariff is 8.20 hryvnias, and SvitloHaz's is 9.99 hryvnias. Annual contracts remain the default for households, and consumers can only switch to monthly, market-based rates on their own initiative.
The vast majority of residential customers-approximately 98%, or over 12 million households-are clients of Naftogaz of Ukraine. The company's rate of 7.96 hryvnias per cubic meter will remain in effect at least until April 30, 2027. Suppliers are prohibited from moving customers from annual to monthly tariffs without their consent.
The newly announced gas tariffs highlight the stability of annual pricing, which can benefit consumers in a volatile energy market. Most households using Naftogaz of Ukraine's services can plan their gas expenses through 2027, providing some financial predictability. However, the availability of higher-cost monthly plans may prompt some consumers to reconsider their tariff choices, particularly amid economic fluctuations.
As households navigate the complexities of the gas market, understanding the factors that contribute to the stability of the current 7.96 UAH rate becomes essential. Insights into why this price may remain unchanged until May 2026 can provide consumers with a clearer picture of their energy expenses and help them make informed decisions regarding their gas supply options.
