VAKS upheld the verdict for a bribe of 36 thousand dollars: case details

Today, November 27, 2025, the Appellate Chamber of VAKS confirmed the verdict in the case of bribery by former officials of the capital's tax office and a lawyer. According to this verdict, the former head of the investigation department of the tax office, his subordinate, and the lawyer were found guilty of receiving a bribe of 36 thousand US dollars.
The appellate court supported the prosecutor's position and did not satisfy the appeals of the defenders. The former head and his former employee were sentenced to serve 10 and 9 years in prison, respectively.
Individuals were taken into custody in the courtroom according to the court's decision.
The ruling of the appellate court can be appealed to the Supreme Court within three months.
As a result of the review by the appellate chamber, the verdict in the bribery case has been upheld, and those guilty are awaiting punishment in the form of imprisonment.
