Forecast for the Future

Heat in Italy is expected to last for at least another 10 days, with temperatures in the south and on the islands reaching up to 42°C. Some regions have already lifted restrictions on outdoor work during hot hours. Alongside the heat, wildfires have broken out; for example, in Sardinia, 24 fires have been recorded in just the last few hours. This is the first serious heat wave in Europe that may lead to record temperatures and the need for additional safety measures.

Under the influence of extreme heat in Italy, the number of patients admitted to hospitals has increased. This particularly affects the elderly suffering from dehydration. It is forecasted that the heat will last at least another 10 days, and in some regions, the possibility of banning outdoor work during hot hours is being considered. At the same time, in addition to the heat, wildfires have emerged, exacerbating the situation and creating serious challenges for local security services.
