Disability Pension for Military Personnel: Who is Eligible and What are the Payment Amounts

Military personnel are entitled to a disability pension if the disability occurred during service or within three months after discharge. This entitlement is regulated by the Law of Ukraine 'On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Some Other Persons' (Law No. 2262). It is important to note that the disability pension is granted only after discharge from service.

According to the explanations of the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Odesa Region, the procedure for submitting documents for obtaining a disability pension is approved by the resolution of the board of the Pension Fund of Ukraine dated January 30, 2007, No. 3-1. This ensures strict adherence to the procedures necessary for receiving payments.

Minimum Pensions for Persons with Disabilities

The minimum pensions for persons with disabilities as a result of the war are defined for three groups:

  • For persons with Group I disability, the pension is 16,847.00 UAH;
  • For Group II – 13,822.00 UAH;
  • For Group III – 9,478.00 UAH.

These amounts are minimum and are intended to support persons who have become disabled as a result of military actions.

The disability groups considered when granting pensions are divided into three categories: Group I, Group II, and Group III. In addition, there are different categories of persons with disabilities, including those who are disabled as a result of war and other persons with disabilities.

Thus, military personnel who have become disabled during service or within three months after discharge are entitled to receive a disability pension according to established norms. This is an important aspect of social protection for military personnel, providing them with financial support in difficult life circumstances.

The introduction of disability pensions for military personnel is an important step in ensuring social protection for individuals who risk their lives for the country. These provisions help support those who have suffered as a result of military actions by providing them with necessary financial assistance in challenging conditions. The importance of such payments increases in the context of ongoing military conflicts that have a significant impact on the health and well-being of military personnel.
