Pension Indexation in Ukraine
According to Пенсії (RSS): The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution to index pensions starting March 1, 2026. This policy, enacted through Resolution No. 236 titled 'On the Indexation of Pension and Insurance Payments and Additional Measures to Enhance Social Protection for the Most Vulnerable Population Groups in 2026,' establishes the procedure for increasing payments for pensions granted before the end of 2025. The recalculation will be performed automatically based on pension case files.
Scale of the Pension Increase
Under this resolution, the amount of the increase will be determined on an individual basis. The minimum increase will be 100 hryvnias, while the maximum could reach 2,595 hryvnias. The indexation will apply to all pensions granted on or before December 31, 2025.
This measure represents a significant step in safeguarding the social welfare of retirees in Ukraine, particularly amid ongoing economic pressures. Pension indexation can help improve the financial situation for many Ukrainians who depend on state payments to meet their needs. The automatic recalculation will also streamline the process, providing pensioners with greater confidence in the stability of their income. This planned adjustment is part of the government's long-term social policy framework.
