Free care extended for pensioners and people with disabilities: now up to 60 days
Extension of the period for free inpatient care
According to ХВИЛЯ: Starting from January 2026, the period of free inpatient care for evacuated elderly individuals and people with disabilities will be extended to 60 days. Services of free inpatient care
The free inpatient care service is provided in 212 establishments that have signed agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU). This ensures access to necessary medical and social services. In addition to the main term, medical indications and a doctor's conclusion can extend the care period by another 30 days, creating additional opportunities for assistance.
The following services are provided within the framework of free inpatient care:
- medical and general care
- accommodation and meals
- psychological support
- basic necessities
- social accompaniment
These measures aim to provide comfort and support to elderly individuals and persons with disabilities who find themselves in difficult life circumstances.
The extension of the period for free inpatient care is an important step towards improving the social support system in Ukraine, which is particularly relevant amid social and economic challenges faced by the country. The increase in the care duration also reflects the government's efforts to improve social protection and care for those who require special attention and support.
