US Military Prepares for Potential Iran Conflict by September, Seeks Ukrainian Drone Technology

Pentagon prepares operation against Iran
Військові США готуються до можливої конфліктної ситуації з Іраном до вересня, звертаючи увагу на досвід в Україні в сфері безпілотних технологій.

US Military Planning for Potential Conflict with Iran

According to Главком: US Central Command has requested that the Pentagon deploy additional military intelligence officers to its Tampa, Florida headquarters. This move is to support potential military operations against Iran, which US military leadership estimates could last for several months, potentially through September. The new officers are slated to support these operations for a minimum of 100 days.

New Weaponry and Strategic Shifts

In response to an attack by a relatively inexpensive 'Shahed'-type drone that killed US service members, the Pentagon is urgently seeking to deploy additional air defense systems to the Middle East. The focus is on compact and relatively inexpensive counter-drone systems developed in the US over recent years. This urgency stems from the current imbalance where US forces are forced to use multi-million dollar missiles to destroy drones costing a fraction of the price.

Consequently, the Pentagon and at least one Gulf state are in talks to purchase Ukrainian interceptor drones to defend against Iranian Shahed drone attacks. This search for cost-effective solutions highlights a key challenge in modern asymmetric warfare. The potential acquisition of Ukrainian technology underscores a globalized defense market responding to specific battlefield threats.

“We are witnessing a seemingly spontaneous operation where no one appeared to truly understand or believe that military action was inevitable. It's as if they woke up on Saturday morning and decided to start a war.”

Gerald Feierstein

The overall situation points to an escalation of regional tensions driven by the threat from Iranian drones. The mobilization of new intelligence officers and the upgrade of air defense systems suggest US preparedness for prolonged military engagement. Furthermore, negotiations for Ukrainian drones indicate a search for alternative, efficient solutions to counter emerging threats in contemporary conflicts, reflecting a strategic adaptation to new forms of warfare.
