In Kuala Lumpur, a meeting took place between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. During the negotiations, the American side expressed disappointment over Moscow's lack of flexibility regarding the resolution of the war in Ukraine, - reports Reuters.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the situation around Ukraine and other international issues were discussed. The parties confirmed their mutual desire to find peaceful solutions to conflicts and restore cooperation.

Secretary of State Rubio also noted that the Trump administration is working on a sanctions bill in collaboration with the Senate. He expressed disappointment that greater progress could not be made.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is participating in a recovery conference in Rome, where EU leaders are gathered. Donald Trump has also resumed arms supplies to Ukraine. The day before the meeting in Malaysia, a Russian drone attack on Kyiv resulted in the death of two people.
