Kyiv MIA Vehicle Registration Center: Organizer of the Scheme for Registering Cars Out of Turn Detained
In Kyiv, during an investigation by the Podil District Prosecutor's Office, a 42-year-old Kyiv resident was exposed for his involvement in a corruption scheme related to car registrations. The man is suspected of receiving money for assisting in registering cars out of turn and without the owner's presence.
According to the prosecutor's office, the man received improper benefits for influencing officials of the Technical Service Center of the MIA in Kyiv and demanded bribes.
'The man offered car owners his assistance in registering cars out of turn due to the limited number of service center appointment slots,' the statement reports.
For his services, he demanded 4,000 hryvnias and the necessary documents, after which he promised to register the car thanks to his connections at the center, even if there were no available appointment slots. He was detained while receiving money from one of the clients to whom he had promised a reduced price for the re-registration of the car. During the search, lists of his clients were seized.
