The deceased, Roman, a drone operator, had been transferred to Belgium for treatment after sustaining serious burns. Despite extensive medical efforts, he did not survive. Roman’s body has since been returned to Ukraine.

“We have just repatriated the body of the first Ukrainian soldier who died here in Belgium. Roman was a drone pilot who suffered burns and was brought to our country for care. Unfortunately, we were unable to save him. Previously, we managed to save dozens of others, but this time, we could not.”
