Petro Poroshenko Appeals to Members of the European Parliament
According to 5 канал: Petro Poroshenko has called on European Parliament members to urgently hold a discussion about the escalating humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. This important debate is scheduled for next Monday and will focus on several critical issues, including:
- the impact of Russian strikes on civilian populations and essential infrastructure;
- Ukraine’s preparations for the approaching winter season;
- the humanitarian conditions in the occupied town of Oleshky;
Special emphasis will be placed on exploring additional support from the European Union and the international community.
Meeting with the President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly
In Strasbourg, Poroshenko met with Petra Bayr, president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), to discuss Russia’s responsibility for its aggression, backing Ukrainian troops and veterans, facilitating the return of prisoners, and strengthening Ukraine’s democratic institutions. During this meeting, Poroshenko stressed the urgent need to accelerate the development of Ukraine’s defense industry and increase the production of modern weaponry. He also delivered 15 upgraded Ai-Petri defense systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for city protection.
“Europe must act proactively rather than respond after the fact,” Poroshenko emphasized.
This appeal highlights the pressing nature of Ukraine’s humanitarian challenges amid ongoing conflict.
Poroshenko’s initiative underscores the vital role of international cooperation in supporting Ukraine as it confronts mounting humanitarian and security challenges. The upcoming debate in the European Parliament could mark a significant step toward securing enhanced aid and resources to mitigate the war’s consequences. The focus on proactive measures reflects the urgent need to prevent further crises and bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
As the situation in Ukraine continues to escalate, the need for a robust defense strategy becomes increasingly critical. In a related development, Poroshenko has emphasized the importance of enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities and implementing stricter sanctions on Russia. This underscores the interconnectedness of military support and humanitarian aid as Ukraine navigates these unprecedented challenges.
