According to hvylya.net: Ukraine has introduced a new mechanism for social support - basic social assistance, designed to help low-income families. The amount of assistance is calculated as the difference between the basic amount for each family member and the total average monthly income of the family.

Criteria for Income Calculation

According to current legislation, the average monthly total income of the family is considered as the average income of all family members for one quarter before submitting an application or for three months prior to the request for assistance. Income includes wages after tax deductions, pensions, scholarships, unemployment benefits, and other sources of income.

Additionally, remittances, dividends are taken into account in the calculation, but certain types of government assistance and one-time payments that do not affect the amount of basic social assistance are excluded.

Features for Certain Categories of Citizens

For internally displaced persons, special conditions apply, excluding certain types of assistance from the calculation, such as subsidies for services, compensation for the accommodation of IDPs, and others. There are also additional exemptions for persons with disabilities and in the case of alimony payments.

Ukraine has implemented basic social assistance for low-income families. The amount of this assistance is determined based on the difference between the basic amount for each family member and the total income of the family, taking into account various sources of income and the specific calculation features for different population categories.
