During the 34th session of the Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London, the Ukrainian delegation held a series of meetings with international partners. The team from the Ministry of Infrastructure was represented by First Deputy Minister Aliona Shkrum and Deputy Minister Andriy Kashuba.

The focus of the meetings was on maritime security, support for Ukrainian port infrastructure, countering the 'shadow fleet' of the Russian Federation, and strengthening sanctions against Russia, as well as preventing Russia from joining the IMO Council.

During one of the meetings, Ukraine and Saudi Arabia signed a Memorandum on mutual recognition of sailors’ diplomas. The agreement opens up additional employment opportunities for Ukrainian sailors and contributes to the expansion of cooperation in the field of maritime transport.

During negotiations with the Minister of Transport of the State of Qatar, the deepening of partnerships in transport, logistics, digitalization of transport systems, and other aspects of sector development were discussed. Issues of potential investment projects and the protection of critical infrastructure were also addressed.

With the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Singapore, the Ukrainian side invited Singapore to join the Recovery Plan for Ukraine's maritime industry and exchanged experiences in port management and sailor training.

At a meeting with the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy of Norway, the Ukrainian delegation discussed common approaches to enhancing maritime security, supporting the Ukrainian fleet, and demining within the work of the Maritime Coalition. Issues of cooperation in infrastructure and the use of Norwegian technical support were also discussed.

Partners also discussed prospects for Norway's participation in projects related to the sustainability and recovery of the maritime sector.

The Ukrainian delegation actively held meetings with international partners at the IMO session in London, where issues of maritime security, expanding cooperation in the field of maritime transport, and supporting Ukrainian sailors were discussed. The signing of the Memorandum with Saudi Arabia on mutual recognition of sailors’ diplomas opened new opportunities for Ukrainian sailors in the international labor market.
