The Case of Anastasiia Berezovska and Vadym Yermolaiev

According to Главком: Anastasiia Berezovska, a Ukrainian national suspected of orchestrating an attack on businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, legally crossed into Ukraine on July 1, 2026. The border checkpoint processed her without any restrictions at the time. According to Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, no databases-including Interpol-flagged her as wanted during the inspection. The agency stated:

“At the moment of crossing the state border on July 1, 2026, there were no restrictions or circumstances related to the entry of this Ukrainian citizen.”

The Explosion in Monaco

The explosion in Monaco, which injured businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, occurred on June 29, 2026, around 9:00 p.m. The government of Monaco confirmed that the blast was a deliberate act. Yermolaiev is currently hospitalized in Marseille, where he has emerged from a coma. His wife, Anna Yermolaieva, was unharmed in the incident, but another woman sustained severe injuries. Four additional individuals were taken to the hospital in a state of shock.

Following the attack, Interpol placed Berezovska on its international wanted list, and Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminal investigation into the attempted murder. Later, authorities in Ukraine discovered a body preliminarily identified as Berezovska. Reports indicate that the suspect had disguised herself as a man, suggesting premeditated planning.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine emphasized that it 'operates on the basis, within the limits of authority, and in the manner defined by the Constitution and current legislation of Ukraine.' All border checkpoints in Ukraine are connected to Interpol's database, confirming compliance with legal procedures during border control. An investigation into the explosion and Berezovska's subsequent actions is ongoing.

This case highlights the complex security and law enforcement challenges both within Ukraine and internationally. The international manhunt for Berezovska, along with her alleged disguised escape, underscores the serious threats modern criminal activities pose to states. As the investigation continues, it may influence future legal measures and cross-border security cooperation.
