In Galeev’s view, the prolonged crisis in the Middle East is significantly eroding the foundational myth of Israel as a winning ally. The past success of lobbyists was built on the image of Israel as a partner that delivers victories. However, protracted conflicts have transformed this perception, casting Israel as a partner that brings problems instead.

“Now, especially in connection with the era of endless wars on terror, there is a suspicion that this is a partner that only brings trouble,” the analyst stated.

Galeev also predicts that if Israel faces a defeat in the region, blame for that loss will almost certainly be shifted onto the Israeli lobby-with 99% probability. “In a situation with a lost war, when blame for that war is placed on the Israeli lobby-and I think that will happen 99 percent of the time-support will simply be withdrawn, and the lobby will never recover from this,” he concluded. This phenomenon creates a vast chasm between the establishment and ordinary voters, with potentially fatal consequences for influence groups.
