Ivan Dansky: the story of a hero who returned from Russia to defend Ukraine
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Ivan Dansky.
Ivan died on January 9, 2023, defending his comrades during a combat mission in the Donetsk region. He was born on June 20, 1993, in the village of Novi Broskivtsi. After studying in Kyiv, he opened a cheese factory in his hometown with his wife and dreamed of a peaceful future for his children. However, he later decided to reclaim his citizenship and join the territorial battalion in Storozhynets to defend Ukraine from enemies.
“I want my children to live in Ukraine without war,” Ivan told his loved ones.
Ivan Dansky was only 29 years old. He was buried in Chernivtsi, where his wife and sons remain. A moment of silence observed by the Chief Commander is a recognition of the heroic sacrificial act on the path to freedom and independence of Ukraine.
The story of hero Ivan Dansky is just one example of the selfless struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine that is worth remembering and honoring.
