According to ХВИЛЯ: On January 8, the Southern cyclone will divide Ukraine into three weather zones with varying precipitation and temperatures, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center. In the western regions, as well as in Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr regions, heavy snow and blizzards are expected. The temperature at night will fluctuate between -7 to -12° C, and during the day will be -2 to -7° C.

In Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions, a transitional zone is forecasted, where wet snow and rain will occur. The temperature in these regions at night will be -0 to -5° C and during the day - 0 to 5° C. In the rest of Ukraine, moderate rain is expected, with nighttime temperatures of +1 to +6° C and daytime temperatures of +7 to +12° C.

Expected consequences and recommendations

The wind will predominantly be from the south with speeds of 7-12 m/s, and in western, southern, and central regions, gusts of wind may reach 15-20 m/s. A yellow level of danger has been declared for Kyiv and Kyiv region for January 8-9. The increase in snow cover in Kyiv region will be 5-10 cm, in western and northern parts - up to 20 cm. Possible complications in energy, construction, communal services, and disruptions in transportation are expected.
