North Korea's New Weapons Trials

According to Главком: North Korea has recently conducted tests of tactical ballistic missiles, rocket artillery systems, and high-precision cruise missiles equipped with artificial intelligence-based guidance systems. According to reports from Pyongyang, Kim Jong Un personally oversaw these trials, emphasizing that the new weapons are ready for modern warfare conditions. The country's authorities also announced plans to reinforce border troops along the frontier with South Korea.

Technical Features of the New Weaponry

Among the technical highlights of the new arsenal, the AI-guided cruise missiles have a range of up to 100 kilometers. These missiles are intended for border artillery units. Kim Jong Un stated that

“the large-scale modernization of strike assets and the automation of launch systems have significantly enhanced the army's combat effectiveness.” - Kim Jong Un

In his view, these changes are crucial for 'deterring war.' Additionally, Kim stressed the importance of 'weapons modernization and automated launch systems,' which he said have been adapted to contemporary battle conditions. The leader also described the border with South Korea as an 'impregnable fortress,' signaling Pyongyang's intent to strengthen its defensive positions in the region.

Separately, reports mention a Russian intermediate-range ballistic missile, the RS-26 Rubezh (Oreshnik), which struck the city of Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region on the night of May 24. Debris from the Oreshnik missile was collected and handed over for analysis. This incident underscores the escalating military situation in the region, where countries continue to modernize their armed forces.

These North Korean tests come amid heightened military conflicts in the area, potentially indicating rising tensions between Pyongyang and Seoul. The modernization of North Korea's military capabilities, including the use of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, could pose new challenges for security in East Asia. At the same time, the incident involving the Russian missile highlights the need for international cooperation on arms control and conflict prevention.

The recent missile tests by North Korea mark a significant escalation in military activity, particularly following their previous launches earlier this year.
