North Korea banned foreigners from visiting resort after Lavrov's visit
According to glavcom.ua: North Korea has closed a resort in the east of the country to foreigners, which had recently become accessible to tourists. The North Korean tourism authority did not explain the reason for this decision, but a few days before the closure, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited the resort and held talks with Kim Jong Un. Lavrov promised to support the flow of tourists from Russia to North Korea.
The 'Wonsan-Kalma' resort is already completed and is called 'world-class'. Kim Jong Un considers it one of the greatest achievements of the year and even personally supervised the construction. The complex has numerous rooms, a water park, an airport, and is located near the leader's private residence.
North Korea continues to develop tourism and attract foreign tourists, however, restrictions on visiting certain sites may hinder the popularity of resorts in the country.
