Hobby Drone Found Near Danish Defense Minister’s Home Triggers Police and Military Response
Drone Incident Near Denmark’s Defense Minister Residence
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On September 16, authorities discovered a small amateur drone close to the home of Jeppe Bruus, Denmark’s Minister of Defense, in the town of Gladsaxe, located just north of Copenhagen. This discovery prompted a large-scale operation involving police and military bomb disposal units. Roads in the area surrounding Bruus’s residence were temporarily closed during the investigation. Officials later seized the drone and confirmed it posed no threat to the neighborhood.
“The drone was a hobbyist device and deemed harmless, with no danger to local residents,” stated the West Copenhagen Police.
Bruus himself reassured the public, emphasizing that the drone was used purely for recreational purposes and that the situation was fully under control. This event comes shortly after a related security concern on September 14, when a Russian frigate fired two signal flares near a Danish Air Force helicopter over international waters close to the town of Gedser. One of the flares passed dangerously close to the Danish aircraft.
Denmark’s Response to Russian Naval Provocation
Denmark reacted swiftly to the incident involving the Russian frigate. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the actions as unacceptable and summoned the Russian ambassador for explanations. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also publicly criticized the frigate’s conduct, describing it as reckless. These episodes highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and underscore the critical importance of securing the airspace.
The drone sighting near the defense minister’s home gains added significance against the backdrop of rising Danish-Russian tensions, exemplified by the recent flare incident. It reflects heightened vigilance over national security matters, particularly amid ongoing military activity in the area. Danish authorities continue to emphasize the need for robust protection of their airspace and regional stability.
