The Krasilych Family: A Story of Enduring Love

According to Главком: Maria and Oleksandr Krasilych from Ukraine's Kirovohrad region are celebrating a remarkable milestone: nearly 62 years of marriage. Incredibly, they share the same birthday, August 23rd, and continue to support each other in their daily lives. Maria is now 80 years old, while Oleksandr is 84.

The Krasilych family raised three children and now have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Oleksandr worked as a combine harvester, and according to the couple, their demanding jobs and large household left no time for arguments:

"We never had time to quarrel-the farm was large, and we were both always working."

This statement highlights how shared labor and purpose were fundamental to maintaining harmony in their marriage.

Love in Ukraine

The celebration of Valentine's Day in Ukraine also underscores the themes of love and relationships. As of mid-February 2026, there are 287 companies registered in Ukraine whose names contain the words 'love,' 'affection,' or 'cupid.' Interestingly, these romantic names are most frequently chosen not for dating services, but for social aid and religious organizations. This suggests that love and relationship support are valued not just in personal life, but in a broader social context as well.

The Krasilychs' story is a shining example of a long-lasting marriage where shared activity and mutual support formed the foundation of a happy life. Their enduring partnership offers a powerful counterpoint to modern individualism, reminding us of the strength found in shared commitment. Ultimately, their journey stands as a symbol of resilience and the beauty of a relationship that has withstood the test of time.
