Cold snap and snow for the holidays
Несподіване похолодання: які прогнози щодо снігу на святкові дні в Україні?

Weather in Ukraine at the end of December

According to ХВИЛЯ: The weather in Ukraine at the end of December is expected to experience a significant cold snap beginning on the 24th. It is anticipated that temperatures will drop, reaching as low as -12°C in some regions. This cold wave may affect the holidays, including Christmas and New Year, with a possibility of snow.

Until December 23, temperatures in Ukraine will fluctuate between -4 and +2 at night, and around -1 to +5 degrees during the day. In the extreme south and in Crimea, temperatures might be higher, reaching up to +6 to +8 degrees. However, on the night of December 24, it is expected that minimum values will reach -5 to -12 degrees. The coldest days will be December 25 and 26, as well as the period from December 29 to 31.

Reasons for weather changes

The reason for the changes in weather is an anticyclone moving from the Scandinavian Peninsula. According to meteorologist Igor Kibalchych, meteorological winter in Ukraine has not yet arrived.

'The cold snap may occur under a dry scenario,' - Igor Kibalchych.

However, the chance of a 'snowy fairy tale' for Christmas and New Year remains. So, despite the cold snap, the possibility of snow during the festive period is still relevant.

A significant drop in temperatures in Ukraine at the end of December could have a considerable impact on holiday events, as a decrease to -12°C may change plans for celebrating Christmas and New Year. Despite the drop in temperature, the possibility of snow could add to the festive atmosphere, although meteorologists warn about the possibility of dry weather without precipitation. This could be an important factor for planning winter events and holiday celebrations in Ukraine.
