Trains to Sumy have been temporarily canceled: how to get to the regional center now

Due to the intensification of Russian attacks on the railway infrastructure and rolling stock of Sumy region, passenger trains will temporarily operate only to and from the Konotop station. Earlier, due to attacks on the Sumy railway, railway workers had to promptly repair damaged facilities and adjust traffic. This is reported by Suspilne referring to 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.

How passengers can now get from Konotop to Sumy

Rail connections with Sumy are not completely halted. The Sumy regional military administration, together with the State Emergency Service, has organized bus transfers between the regional center and Konotop. Thus, passengers are offered a combined route in the form of train plus bus.

'We understand that this creates inconveniences for passengers who have planned their trips in advance, but safety is our top priority', they reported at 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.

The company emphasized that the decision is temporary. The situation in Sumy region may change daily depending on the intensity of attacks and the threat level to passengers and railway workers.

Previously, 'Ukrzaliznytsia' changed train movements in dangerous regions. In specific directions, bus detours, transfers, and forced train stops near shelters have been applied.

When will trains resume direct service to Sumy

There is currently no specific date for returning to the normal schedule. Full routes in the Sumy direction will be restored after the risks to passengers and railway crews decrease.

'Passengers are asked to be prepared for any options for transportation, transfers or combined transport routes, depending on changes in the security situation', they warned at 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.

Passengers planning trips through the Sumy region should check the current route and announcements from the transporter before departure, as the traffic scheme may change rapidly.
