Poland Launches Global Verification of Biometric Passports
New System Rolled Out by Polish Authorities
According to Radiotrek — Світ: Poland has taken a major step toward integrating with the ICAO Public Key Directory, a global system for authenticating electronic travel documents. The agreement was signed on Monday by Julian Rotter, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, during a visit to Poland by ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar. This signing marks a key milestone in the adoption of advanced aviation technologies.
The ICAO Public Key Directory enables the verification of electronic travel documents, including biometric passports and electronic ID cards. According to the Civil Aviation Authority,

The new technology will also be linked to the European EES system, parts of which are already operational at many land border crossings in Poland.
With this move, Poland is pushing forward with the modernization of its border control procedures, aiming to boost both security and document-check efficiency. For travelers and international partners, this means smoother and faster processing at entry points.
Modern Trends in Border Checks
Poland’s accession to the ICAO Public Key Directory reflects a worldwide shift toward digitized and automated border inspections.
